Honor the Wobbly Days

Some days, I wake up feeling like my life is balanced; I have a plan, and I know the direction to go in to get everything done. Other days, I feel a bit wobbly physically or mentally; maybe I’m sore or tired, or perhaps there’s uncertainty about a relationship or where to focus my attention. If you’re like me, those wobbly days can bring up feelings of anxiety or self-doubt. It’s important to honor these days and take a moment to notice what’s happening in your mind and body.

A regular yoga practice can help you navigate these wobbly days with more ease. Life is a constant flow, even if our schedules are highly structured. Our bodies and minds might not always sync with that rhythm. Setting time aside during the day can alleviate the discomfort that comes when you feel out of step.

Here’s my approach:

  • 6:45 am - Wake up, bathroom, brush teeth, wash face

  • 6:55 am - Roll out my mat and assess what my body needs

  • 7:00–8:00 am - Yoga, meditation, journaling

  • 8:00 am - Walk my dog

  • 8:30 am - Breakfast

  • 9:00 am - Work

  • ...

  • 9:00-10:00 pm - Yoga, meditation, journaling

My yoga practice varies in length, depending on my day and what my body needs. Connecting breath with movement helps center my focus and realign my thoughts. Meditating and journaling afterward bring peace to my busy mind. After yoga, I like to practice a 10-20 minute guided meditation to settle the mind. When thoughts arise, I acknowledge them, then let them drift away. For journaling, I process any thoughts from meditation or note goals and make plans to achieve them.

I invite you to assess your own routine and honor your process. You’ll get there if you persist. ✨ When life feels out of balance, remember: rest, reset, and breathe.
